About Maa Budhi Jaagulai Temple

Maa Budhi Jaagulai Temple stands at the spiritual heart of Gorada and nearby villages. Devotees come here to honour the goddess, ask for good health, steady income and protection in daily life. Firstly, many families visit the shrine before starting new business, sowing crops or travelling long distances.

The temple calendar stays active throughout the year. Moreover, certain occasions draw especially large crowds:

  • Major Odia festivals such as Durga Puja and Kumara Purnima
  • Special tithis decided by the priest and local committee
  • Annual village gatherings with bhajans, deepa lighting and cultural programmes

On festival evenings, the campus glows with diyas and colourful lights. Children enjoy the fair-like atmosphere, while elders sit together, sing devotional songs and share village news. In addition, many people bring simple offerings like coconut, flowers and homemade prasad as a sign of gratitude.

The temple lies on the Gorada village road, around 6 km from Nimkana and close to the route from Rahama railway station. Visitors usually reach by bus, auto-rickshaw or bike and pass through peaceful fields and ponds on the way. Finally, everyone is requested to keep the surroundings clean, avoid plastic and maintain silence near the sanctum to respect the deity and other devotees.
